Awakening & Sustainability
Awakening to the reality of the world is one of the hardest things that a person can experience. Is it worth it?
Our consciousness creates the reality of the world around us, and throughout the history of mankind, we have been slowly programmed to believe in certain systems and ideas that are no longer serving humanity. The only way to create a better community on this planet is for each person to become aware of their actions and how it affects others and the environment.
My awakening journey began in 2017 when I first saw a viral video of a sea turtle with a straw that became embedded in his nose while conservationists painstakingly helped the turtle as it bled . I have always been an animal lover, and I still have nightmares about this reality in which I was exposed. Watching this video, an animal in so much pain that was solely caused by the creature comforts of modern humanity, was life changing forever for me.
At the time, I was a big Amazon shopper, and I loved drinking my homemade iced coffee in the morning. I found on Amazon a pack of about 500 (maybe even more!) pink plastic straws, and I had been using them daily for close to two years because it was “so convenient” and PINK! It never even occurred to me the damage that I created on Earth by not only contributing to buying products that were damaging to the environment, but also for the waste and disregard for all life on Earth by using it on a negligent basis.
I made a vow that day to reduce my plastic straw use as much as possible. I threw the remaining straws away (keep in mind that I was never a recycling person before this action). I felt good. I felt like that was what I needed to do to become a “good” person and steward of the environment. I had no idea the positive snowball effect that was going to be taking place over the next several years and still taking place in my life every single day.
So is it worth it? Absolutely yes. This is my first blog post on my website, and I plan to create more about what happened after this small change that I decided to make in my life. It was the first glimpse of my consciousness coming out—at 28. I didn’t know this at the time.
Some of the topics I plan to write about using my own experiences & perceptions are:
Conscious Creation
Conservation
Awakening Journey
Environmental Impacts
Recycling Tips (from a state where recycling is almost non-existent)
and More! (Please feel free to use my contact form to suggest topics that you’d like to learn more about.)
It is never too late to become aware. It is never too late to self-reflect. It is never a bad thing to look back and think “what was I doing?!” because it is actually a really great thing to be able to reflect and make changes in your life. You don't have to be the person that people have always thought you were. You can change any day that you want to—by using your consciousness.
Recycling is a crucial step towards creating a sustainable future for ourselves and our planet. By recycling, we can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, conserve natural resources, and decrease the amount of pollution that harms our environment. However, recycling is not just about separating paper and plastic from our trash. It is also about being conscious of our actions and taking responsibility for our impact on the world around us.
Tomorrow is a new day, full of opportunities to make a difference. One way to do so is by becoming more conscious of our choices and their consequences. We can start by educating ourselves on the importance of recycling and the benefits it provides. We can also make a conscious effort to reduce our waste by using reusable bags, bottles, and containers.
Community plays a vital role in creating a sustainable future. By working together, we can share ideas, resources, and support for each other's efforts. Encouraging our friends and family to recycle and reduce waste can make a significant impact. We can also get involved with local organizations and events that promote sustainability and environmental awareness.
